DANCING MULE

The Dancing Mule Cafe is located on the second floor of the Old Theatre Inn in the Duan Family Village. Guests may also dine in the courtyard or on the terrace (weather permitting) and enjoy expansive views of ricefields and mountains across the valley.
Our Shaxi restaurant also stocks 14 varieities of excellent wines from around the world, as well as Chinese wine, Beer Lao and we are the sole supplier of Shangri-la craft beer in Shaxi.
Lunch is served from 11:30 - 2:00 and dinner from 5:00-8:00.
Reservations are required for groups of 6 or more at here or by calling 087-247-22296. Dancing Mule is run by local Bai women from Duan Village, an authentic experience among Shaxi restaurants. The result is great local flavor and smiling service.

Pear Blossom Organic offers authentic Shaxi local cooking in an active Buddhist folk temple. Chef Yang from Diantou Village is a renowned local cooking master who buys ingredients from village neighbors' farms daily. Our specialties include:

OLD TOWN DINING

There are several excellent restaurants in town specializing in local cuisine. These are restaurants run by local families and catering to both toursits and local guests alike. They have all been in business for at least several years and consistently serve great food with a friendly atmosphere.

COFFEE

Yunnan province is famous in China for its world-class coffee and Shaxi shops sell some of the best that Yunnan has to offer. Sloth Coffee on Tibet South Alley just off the main square, as well as Old Treee Cafe next to the theatre temple in Sideng Square are inviting friendly shops that offer a relaxed atmosphere and expertly made java.
